Overview

Stuga is a Home Assistant dashboard app developed by Twinbolt AB. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how Stuga handles your data.

The short version: Stuga runs entirely on your device and connects directly to your Home Assistant instance. We collect anonymous crash reports and usage statistics to improve the app, but no personal data or Home Assistant information is ever collected.

Data Collection

Stuga collects minimal anonymous data to improve the app. The app operates locally on your device and communicates only with your Home Assistant server for smart home control.

  • Anonymous crash reports via Firebase Crashlytics (to fix bugs)
  • Anonymous usage analytics via Firebase Analytics (to understand which features are used)
  • No personal information or Home Assistant data is collected
  • No advertising or ad tracking

Analytics data includes: screen views, connection success/failure rates, and settings preferences. All data is anonymous and cannot be used to identify you. No device names, entity names, or Home Assistant URLs are ever collected.

Data Storage

All data is stored locally on your device:

  • Home Assistant URL: Stored in local storage on your device
  • Authentication tokens: Stored securely in your device's keychain (iOS) or keystore (Android)
  • App preferences: Stored locally on your device

On the web version, data is stored in your browser's local storage. No data is sent to our servers.

Network Communication

Stuga only communicates with:

  • Your Home Assistant instance: To fetch device states and send commands
  • Fontshare (Google CDN): To load the Satoshi font

All communication with your Home Assistant server uses the authentication method you choose (OAuth or long-lived access token). Your credentials are never shared with Twinbolt AB or any third party.

Third-Party Services

Stuga uses the following third-party services:

  • Firebase Crashlytics: For anonymous crash reporting to help us fix bugs.
  • Firebase Analytics: For anonymous usage statistics to understand which features are used.
  • Fontshare CDN: For loading the Satoshi font.

Stuga does not use any advertising or ad tracking services. Firebase Analytics is configured to collect only anonymous aggregate data - no personal information or identifiers are collected.

Open Source

Stuga is open source. You can review the complete source code at github.com/twinbolt-ab/stuga to verify our privacy practices.

Children's Privacy

Stuga does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The app is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages.
